Come Thither this Thursday

Our Daily Rev Up! Come thither this Thursday inspired by what I shared last night at our Community Meal. I picked up a glass of water. I asked: What do you think I’m holding? Now—how heavy do you think this glass is? From one angle, the weight doesn’t matter. What matters is how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it’s light. If I hold it for an hour, my arm starts to ache. If I hold it all day, my arm might go numb. Eventually, I’ll have to let it go. The glass hasn’t changed. But the longer I hold it, the heavier it feels. Stress and worry can be like that. A little bit, for a little while, is manageable. But when we carry it too long—especially alone—it can wear us down. That’s why it’s okay to put the glass down. To rest. To breathe. To let someone else hold it with you for a while. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7. Care is available both human and divine. Remember you do not have to carry everything. You are not alone. You are welcome. You are held. Live in this love and hope. Amen!
